During the months of May, June and July InnSiders can have a third night free, paying only for the first two nights of their stay plus meals, drinks and extras for their third night while at Inn On Rupurara this offer also includes activities.

There is no limit on numbers so this offer is ideal for singles, couples and families alike. Book now for a lovely winter’s break at one of the Inns and enjoy the warmth of the welcome at Inns of Zimbabwe friendly Country Inns.
Inn Feature - Natureways Safaris
Come and enjoy the canoeing on the Lower Zambezi and in Mana. With the gates at Kariba open, the river is running high and there are lots of new channels to explore. During the winter months, it is beautifully warm during the days whilst brisk at night and in the early mornings.
We have several different canoe safari options – something to suit all pockets, time limits and the adventurous.
EXPLORER SAFARI OPTIONS: these safaris are semi- participatory

Explorer SafarisFor the newcomers, try our Marula Safari which is a 3 day/2 night safari departing from Kariba and ending in Chirundu – perfect for those who have never experienced this great activity.

Once you are “hooked” then try a Tamarind Safari which goes from Chirundu to Mana Pools – this is most definitely our most popular safari if you only have a few days to spare – this is a 4 day/3 night safari and we have three scheduled departures a week

For those of you with more time to spare, then think about our other options which include:
  • Kariba – Mana Pools (Fisheagle Safari)
  • Mana – Chewore (Mopane Safari); Kanyemba (Mupata Safari)
  • Chirundu – Kanyemba (Zambezi Classic Short)
  • or go the whole hog and canoe for a fabulous 10 days and go from Kariba to Kanyemba – a distance of approximately 230 kms (Zambezi Classic Long).
ODYSSEY SAFARI OPTIONS: these safaris are fully backed up Classic Camping - Not quite “chocolate on the pillow” but nevertheless very comfortable options.

Odyssey Safaris Try our Mana Shoreline Walking and Mana Canoeing Safaris. These take place over a four day/3 night period and each night is spent in a different location – a wonderful way to experience the unspoilt beauty of the river and Mana Pools.

Odyssey SafarisShould you prefer a fixed camp instead, then book our Camp Zambezi or Camp Chitake. These are fixed camps, and you can enjoy the thrills of walking with our experienced guides, game drives, canoeing or just sitting in camp and watching the wildlife come to you.

For more information on any of the above safaris, contact us on:Telephone +2634 745458

Inn on Great ZimbabweInn On Great Zimbabwe outside Masvingo will from August 1 trade as Norma Jeane’s Holiday Resort, and will no longer be a division of the Inns of Zimbabwe hospitality group.

Inns of Zimbabwe chairman Gordon Addams said the owners of the hotel, the Sparrow family, had decided to take back the operation and the Inns branding under which it has operated since 1999 would no longer be used.

The new operation will be an affiliate of the Inns of Zimbabwe group and discounts offered to members of the InnSider Card benefit scheme will continue to be offered. Affiliates across Zimbabwe work closely with the group to offer affordable accommodation to local and international travellers, working together under the branding Best of Zimbabwe.

The new resort will also honour rate schedules offered by Inn On Great Zimbabwe until December 31.

“We have enjoyed having this hotel as part of our group and are, of course, sorry to take it off our list of branded establishments, but we wish the Sparrow family well in their return to active operation of the establishment,” said Mr Addams.

Inns of Zimbabwe has three other small country hotels within its portfolio – Inn On The Vumba just outside Mutare, and Pine Tree Inn and Inn On Rupurara at Nyanga.

In the past the group has run franchised hospitality operations in areas such as Chipinge, Chiredzi and northern South Africa and will in future continue to consider similar franchise arrangements in these and other suitable areas.

Chengeta and Pamuzinda Safari Lodges, Selous
Greetings from us all at Chengeta and Pamuzinda. A word from Admire Mukono at the front desk ...

Firstly, I would like to thank you all for the continued support to our two lovely lodges. I have great pleasure to inform all of you that May 2010 wasn’t that bad as far as business is concerned as on average we managed to maintain 30% bed nights’ occupancy on both lodges. Private companies & NGOs have contributed much to the occupancy they visit to utilize our magnificent conference facilities and participate in our activities. I would also like to inform you with pleasure that we did host a stunning wedding during the month of May at Chengeta Safari Lodge. So for those who are planning for a wedding consider Chengeta or Pamuzinda lodges, as we are a romantic spot for your wedding.

Recent events at Chengeta
The last few weeks here at Chengeta has been full of fun and surprises, and the lodge fires are a warm and welcoming attraction with the aroma of brewed coffee in the early mornings as winter has set in and the evenings and early mornings are cooler and crisper. We have had the pleasure in hosting the wedding of Doug and Lindsay Nicholson with the ceremony out on the plains with wildlife also looking on. The reception was very tastefully set up in our Arabian style marquee with a sunflower theme, a yellow explosion of colour and vibrancy. On the wildlife side of things with Chengeta being known for it’s large Pythons a spectacular sighting was seen close to the lodge in the early evening, as this snake was stretched across the road slowly making its way into the tall grass. Good birds have been seen in and around the lodge with species such as White browed scrub robins and Mousecoloured flycatchers in the gardens. We also bid farewell to Natalia Attwell who has left Chengeta in search for greener pastures, we wish her all the best of luck in her future endeavours. We also welcome Michelle Kabwe back to the team, Michelle has completed her studies and diploma in hospitality management and has joined the team here at Chengeta!

Recent events at Pamuzinda
Pamuzinda in it’s tranquil setting and views across the Saruwe River offers the perfect getaway and many guests have relaxed and enjoyed themselves in this beautiful area either canoeing on the Saruwe river or on safari back in the diverse and beautiful game park. The gardens and calming scenery provides many with the relaxation they seek when visiting Pamuzinda. We welcome Passmore Mharapara to the team at Pamuzinda, Passmore has spent years in the industry in Food and Beverage and we look forward to tasting the good food that Pamuzinda will produce.

Notes from the General Manager
"There is nowhere more beautiful in Africa" - A quote by The Late Queen Mother

In my last Vumba Diary I mentioned that it gets chilly in here! Well that it certainly does!

Even with the refurbishment in progress we have kept the fires in our lounges burning day and night! It is noticeably drier and soon we will be watering the golf course and our vast expanses of lawn.

The refurbishment is now in the last phase. We have a new kitchen, laundry and The Casino wing accommodation is now awaiting its furniture. The rooms now have a dark finish to all the built-in wood furniture and we have rather classically styled wooden headboards. The theme of dark wood is continued through the bedside lamps, easy chair frames and tables. Fabrics are in rich ochres, taupes and beiges, all very restful on the eye – beige duvets finished off with an ochre coloured throw across the bottom of the bed make the end result very pleasing.

With the furniture for the public areas now arriving we are starting to get an impression of what the finished product will be like. Lots of richly textured fabrics in warm deep colours blend in perfectly with the chosen paint colours, moulded ceilings and rather classical fixtures and fittings. Our old baby grand piano is having a facelift and will be positioned outside The Conservatory Restaurant where it will be used to entertain Guests in the evenings. I have recruited two very talented pianists from Mutare who played through their “interviews” without any musical scores in sight!

In the last few months we have noticed a growing number of couples wishing to have their Wedding Receptions here. On the two occasions that I have been directly involved, it became very apparent how ideal the location and facilities are. Both couples are getting married on the golf course itself – there are just so many views and locations to choose from – and the options for the reception are also numerous. Personally, I believe the fact that Leopard Rock is large enough to accommodate the wedding party and all the wedding guests giving the family total exclusivity of the property is ideal. In both instances that I refer to, the Guests arrive on the Friday afternoon and depart after luncheon on Sunday – the property is exclusively for their use during this time! How wonderful to spend your wedding weekend surrounded by family and friends, which I suppose is especially so in instances where they have travelled from afar. Furthermore, and most importantly, we have all the equipment, staffing and expertise required under normal circumstances, and perhaps most of all we have experienced and well trained Management to ensure a memorable occasion.

I wish you all well and look forward to the completion of "this grand old lady’s facelift!"

As always, kind regards from The Leopard Rock Team, we look forward to meeting you!
